The Beirut Groove Collective- Back to KED beirut
THE BEIRUT GROOVE COLLECTIVE ARE BACK IN BEIRUT
On Friday 20 November, the Beirut Groove Collective relaunches its cult clubnight at KED, returning to Beirut with a monthly strictly-vinyl all-nighter.
Founded in Beirut in 2009, BGC is a collective of vinyl DJs and crate diggers led by Ernesto Chahoud and Natalie Shooter, dedicated to obscure and underground dancefloor records from the 1960s to the 1980s, spanning the SWANA region, Africa and beyond.
Rooted in the music and club culture of Beirut's '60s, '70s and '80s, the night celebrates adventurous dancefloor sounds and the weird and wonderful – from Arabic and African funk, Lebanese '60s beat and bellydance disco to Latin tarab, Armenian estradayin, Anatolian rock, and soul, funk and psych rarities from around the world.
For the first edition, the BGC welcomes longtime family members Diran Mardirian (Chico Records) and DJ Yukah (Yukunkun), alongside special guest ShifoKeefo.
