What happens when we unearth the sounds that live in us? What possibilities for action emerge when we voice our most soothing, our most triggering sounds?

Sound Body is a multimedia performance in “sound archeology”, exploring the body as a sound archive and excavation site. Working with remembered and collected sounds, the artist explores our relationship to sound as a gateway to our identities and lived experiences. Based on an archive of sounds ranging from the 2020 Beirut blast, the sound of drones constantly occupying the Lebanese airspace, and gibberish poems composed by loved ones, Sound Body is a live excavation of buried sounds experienced from afar through looped voice compositions and movement.
The performance invites us to reflect on our individual and collective paths in relation to heritage, belonging, and memory in a world that keeps shattering us time and time again.

Beirut Choreography Encounters

Beirut Physical Lab | Eternity Association:
Beirut Physical Lab (BPL) is a hub for contemporary dance and physical theatre in Beirut, a place for local and international artists to connect, collaborate, and create within a rich, safe creative environment. Born from the need for more opportunities in this field, BPL exists to let artists dive deep into their craft, sustain a livelihood from it, and celebrate our culture and heritage along the way. We believe in the power of movement, and in making the body's role in our lives more visible, accessible, and relatable to all.
We are committed to nurturing the next generation of performing artists through training and performance opportunities. Through our artistic projects, we enrich Beirut's cultural landscape and support performing arts rooted in our own culture, while connecting to the global contemporary scene.
Above all, BPL is building a supportive, collaborative community of physical artists, one where shared experience and collective learning elevate the field of physical art in all its forms.
